It is a typical example of the vernacular Rhodopean Renaissance architecture, organically linked to nature. [abz]We have tried to restore some of the centuries-old houses in the village, using traditional construction techniques and natural building materials. [abz]We will make sure that there is something for everyone in the village of Kosovo and its surroundings: tracking, trips to natural and cultural monuments, bird-watching, fishing, mineral baths, skiing and why not – artistic inspiration. ![]() [abz]The village of Kosovo is situated in the centre of the Rhodope Mountains, some five km from the Narechenski Bani spa resort. Hills with virgin forests surround it from all sides. Four never failing rivers run through it. [abz]It is easy to reach Kosovo from Asenovgrad (30 km), Pamporovo ski resort (36 km), Plovdiv (50 km), Sofia (197 km), Burgas (282 km).
[abz]Settlers from Staro Selo village next to the Biala Cherkva Monastery founded Kosovo in the 17th century. Kosovo reached the peak of its prosperity in the 19 th century. Most of the houses in the village are from that period. The livelihood in those times included stockbreeding, agriculture, trade and masonry. In the 20 th century, the village declined and was totally forsaken. ![]() [abz]The typical Bulgarian Renaissance architecture has been conserved in the village of Kosovo. There are 63 cultural monuments in the village, five of them of national importance. Two of those buildings – the Church of the Assumption (1851) and the Hadjiyska House (1853), were made by the famous Hadji Georgi Stanchovski, who had also built the most beautiful houses in Old Plovdiv. Other buildings of great interest are the old school (1889), the chapels of St. Peter and St. Nedelya, the water-mill, the forge, as well as most of the old houses in the village. [abz]The climate in Kosovo is enjoyable all year round. In winter, there are many sunny days with snow. In summer, the dense oak and pine forests ensure fresh nights. The bird songs are unforgettable in spring, just like the colors of the leaves in autumn. [abz]The old rural houses, made of natural materials – stone, earth, wood and lime, are 150, 200 or more years of age. In 2004, we began the restoration of the most emblematic houses in the village of Kosovo. Experts in reviving famous Rhodopean cultural monuments work in the Kosovo Houses complex. Their track record includes the Agushevi Konatzi feudal residence, the Devil's Bridge and many houses in Shiroka Luka. ![]() The Hadjiyska House [abz]In 2005, the biggest and most beautiful house in the village was open for visitors. It was built in 1853 by the famous Hadji Georgi Stanchovski and it is a cultural monument. The stone walls, trimmer joists, chimneys, ceilings, tile-stones and other details have been conserved or restored just like the original. The house has spectacular views onto the village and the surrounding forests. [abz]The house is two-storeyed and can accommodate 18 guests in 6 double and 2 triple rooms. Each room has individually designed wooden furniture and luxurious bathroom. The atmosphere from the Bulgarian renaissance has been restored with traditional elements: fireplace, window seat, wooden ceilings, oak parquet, cupboards, woven blankets and rugs. Heating and hot water is provided by a central boiler. The Hadjiyska house is 3 stars - the highest class guesthouse. [abz]In the same yard the barn has been transformed into a winery. Traditional "cheverme" and other dishes are made in the fireplace. The big hall is equipped with massive beech furniture, window seats, bar, satellite television and can receive 40 people. It is very appropriate for work and art meetings, seminars, celebrations. The terrace by the winery is a favorite place in summer for its wonderful view. The kitchen offers the best of the traditional Bulgarian specialties and the bar - selected wines and other drinks. PRICES:
